Starry Glitter Nail Enamel: A NYC Review

New York Color is an inexpensive brand of cosmetics found at drugstores and mass retailers like Wal-Mart and Target.

Whenever I venture into one of these stores, I always check out the makeup aisle and look for the NYC brand as they offer a pretty wide range of cosmetic products. Most of the products I have bought from this brand have been of good quality, like glitter for nails, especially for the price I pay for them.

Their Long Wearing Nail Enamel is one of those products.

Most retailers sell this for just $1. There are always different colors to choose from depending on which retailer you visit.

I have been on a glitter polish kick lately and have been scourging the stores for different colors and brands of glitter polishes.

NYC had a few glitter polishes at Wal-Mart and #105, Starry Silver Glitter, is one of the ones that caught my eye.

This polish comes in a rounded bottle and carries .45 oz of nail enamel.

The base for this polish is clear and has tiny reflects of silver glitter with larger dots of purple and teal chunks throughout.

While I never expected this to be opaque after application, the larger chunks really do stand out on my nails.

I decided to paint a base coat of a white pearl for this to be painted over and the results are quite nice.

Starry Silver is the perfect name for this and would be a great “bling” finger accent. It is really fashionable for every nail to be painted a solid color and have one nail on each hand be overlaid in sparkles.

I decided to do this, but changed my mind as the glitter chunks in this polish are less apparent and the purple and blue dots are far and few between. On my thumb, for instance, after 3 coats of Starry Silver, there are only 5 larger dotted chunks.

This is something that young girls and teens would like, and you will like too, because the price is so cheap.

The clear base is very shiny and I did not feel the need for a top coat.

Unlike other glitter polishes, this one is rather smooth after application and drying time.

I have not had a problem with the larger chunks of glitter falling off at all.

Overall, this is a nice glitter polish. If you want something more subtle, only apply one coat, but if you are like me and have no problem with sparkle, then add up to 3 for a more complete look.
